Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
What you need to know is 453 were hired in 2018.
Forecast of 400 2019 400 2020 and 200 2021, as expansion slows/stops around that timeline.
The music will slow down..

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
They haven’t been announced yet, but based on the number of unnamed new hires in the training forecast, between now and the start of March...
24 A320
8 Rouge 767
4 EMJ
3 B737
1 B787RP
They should have the official list by Friday.

Ok, thanks. I'm always curious what they offer each course.AOW wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 6:01 amThey haven’t been announced yet, but based on the number of unnamed new hires in the training forecast, between now and the start of March...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Lots of variety in the PIT course that started this week, hiring from 21 different organizations, 34 of 36 new hires were OTS. Not much representation from the express carriers (1 Jazz and 1 Sky).
Encore - 7
RCAF - 6
Westjet - 3
Sunwing - 2
Porter - 2
Other - 16
Other carriers had one new hire each: Jazz, Sky, Swoop, Emirates, Voyageur, Provincial, Cargojet, Canadian North, Bearskin, Pacific Coastal, Perimeter, Summit Air, London Air Service, Bombardier, Carson Air, Corporate.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I would have expected a lot more from team teal (and pink) given the typical experience of those pilots, and the turmoil going on there.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
With the new Jazz contract, I expect hiring from team teal to slow down. 60% min of all hiring at AC must come from Jazz now. OTS is going to get a lot more competitive, that's for sure.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:52 pm I would have expected a lot more from team teal (and pink) given the typical experience of those pilots, and the turmoil going on there.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I was interested to see 2 Captains out of Sunwing joining... from what I read on another thread I thought they were paid and treated better than Air Canada Captains?Data Printer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 12:47 pm Lots of variety in the PIT course that started this week, hiring from 21 different organizations, 34 of 36 new hires were OTS. Anyway, it's great to see such a diverse background in the group of professionals joining. Congrats!
I believe after this big burst, we will see a continuation of hiring in the range of 100/year going forward, barring a recession or event causing a pullback/reduction. In the scope of the past, AC even running a few courses a year kept the music playing in this business... it might not be as blaringly loud as it currently is though... 1500 over 4 years... wow...JoeyBarton wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 10:19 pm What you need to know is 453 were hired in 2018.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Maybe they were West coast or YVR commuters and wanted a better lifestyle ? Sunwing senior FOs have a very great lifestyle but Jr Capt could be a much more of a hardship if you're commuting. Or maybe they envy the long haul lifestyle ?I was interested to see 2 Captains out of Sunwing joining... from what I read on another thread I thought they were paid and treated better than Air Canada Captains?

In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

My username is unintentionally misleading. I’ve had it since flight training with aspirations of joining the military. No actual military experience.Gonzodriver wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 8:10 amCongrats.FighterPilot wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:34 pm Just got the call today for March start.
