Why would there be? AC doesn't owe them anything. It's not like all the YYZ jazz RJ pilots were magically offered jobs at main line when the YYZ base closed.

As mentioned above I think AC made commitments to some of the 1900 crews who are cadets. As far as my knowledge of the situation goes, every cadet is on the 1900 right now at GGN. Not sure which base or how many are affected by this closure but I'm sure their timeline just sped up considerably.
Perhaps, but I don't see AC hiring them unless they still meet a certain level of experience?

I was told that AC has had some issues recently with training of some Q400 FOs from other regionals. Making the jump from B1900 FO to main line would be a pretty big risk training wise for AC.

They have done it in the past. As recently as August, there are certainly candidates with far more experience than a Q400 who have had issues in training at AC.

The next few weeks will paint a better picture of things to come.

What are some of the lower time experience levels that have gotten into big red over the last 1-2 years? I have no dog in this fight, merely interested in knowing if lower time guys/gals have been getting into mainline and what type of experience they had at the time. I would have guessed AC online takes Captains from the express carriers?

How long to hear back from in person interview? Interviewed end of August and haven’t heard anything. Do they PFO sooner rather than later? Thanks in advance.

I waited 6 1/2 weeks for a PFO. Those who interviewed around the same time as me got the “application on hold” email. They have since been given groundschools. I did my interview in the spring of 2018. I hope this helps, good luck!

Yes, most positions are in YYZ but there are still vacancies in YUL and YVR.

If a guy wanted to get to YVR ASAP, what would you say is the best aircraft to try and get on?

There are openings in YVR for 777 & 787 RP's and 737 & A320 FO's. It is possible to be awarded one of those positions while in the PIT course. I wouldn't want to misinform you as to which position would result in being transfer the quickest should you be 'awarded' a YYZ position. I'd suggest focusing more on what you want to spend the next few years flying, as opposed to what might get you transferred first. As I'm sure you're aware the RP lifestyle is very different than life as a narrow body pilot, however, its becoming apparent that life on the 737 in YVR could be very different than the 320 once the 737 commences its flying to the Hawaiian islands this winter.
