First applied 2017. Received confirmation.

Updated application a few months ago but no word still or are they just behind applications.

4000hrs / 705 MPIC / Training

Should I resubmit application with their new portal or is it the same and just a new layout?
Vanguard,

Do you have post secondary? I know tons of 705 Captains with lots of time and work in training who haven’t heard a thing because they have no post secondary. AC is not currently interviewing OTS applicants who don’t have post secondary. I’ve seen them hire FO’a with no PIC time (other then the bare minimum you need for your ATPL) that have a degree etc... Unfortunetly experience is not what they value most right now.

My advice to anyone who is dead set on AC is to get some kind of post secondary education or go to an Express carrier. Lots of guys from there being hired with just high school and a couple years punched at an Express carrier.
They hired a guy I worked with in January with no completed post secondary. But I have heard it's really important right now.

Hello,

Query:

I applied in Oct’17, OTS. Received mail confirmation.

Keep updating my application. Current experience 6500 hrs with 6000 hrs on Jet aircraft, 705 , University degree in Aviation BUT NO PIC experience. I am under Command upgrade now.

I haven’t received any interview call from AC.

Is it because of NO PIC hours experience ?

Thanks in advance

I'd guess that the lack of PIC, and lack of diversity in your background might be part of it.

6000+ hours without an upgrade is possibly a red flag.

It's a points system and PIC over 12500 lbs is one of the points categories. Or was when I applied. Being in upgrade training now might look good to a human but at your point a human probably isn't looking at your application yet.

How does one end up with 6000 hours and zero PIC?

I'm guessing went to Asia early on as either cadet or paid for a type rating. Ended up with super long upgrade times?

Rounding down would be the easiest way.

They are running every three weeks for now, the last one started on Feb 18th, so March 11th. The last update said they will go to every 2 weeks in the summer!

I would apply again, do a refresh of your information, 2017 is a long time ago, just in case technology has failed you.

Anybody have any insight if people with predominantly bush experience have been getting hired.

Am bilingual with an aviation degree so I get a couple bonus marks there... But floats are just too much fun.

I know guys have been hired off twin otter float/wheel/ski jobs into AC, but I think you're a long long shot going direct from a single engine vfr float operation... It's probably happened at some point, but not recently AFAIK.

Ya that's fair. I guess when I say predominantly bush I mean a 50/50'ish split with multi engine/ifr time.

Sooo, why turn fun into a job by going to AC?

Almost all my time was in the bush and just a couple hundred hours of 705 pic and that's all I needed to get hired OTS. Nobody wants to be still throwing around 45 gal drum when they're 50 years old.

The bush time is good, if you have the other experience too... I guess it depends what that MIFR is... if you're talking only Navajos or Mixmasters it might be harder than if it were Dash 8s or Dorniers...

Nonetheless... I think AC likes to see a diverse background and progression through your career... floats, piston twins, commuter turbines, and a 705 job would look pretty good I think.

Good luck.
