Re: Average age of new fo's
I heard once the the average new hire was 35.
Re: Average age of new fo's
If your a 'newb' I'm curious as to how you come to the age guess?
Re: Average age of new fo's
It honestly depends on the course. I was hired prior to the PML and there were maybe 3-5 of us under 30. The bulk early to mid 30s and another 5 or so over 40.
The average age of guys on the first few courses with the PML would have been higher but it should be coming back down now.
Things are good at the red team right now. Quick upgrades for those that want them, expansion on the wide bodies etc. Lots of new hires and that is without retirements. Starting Dec 2017 retirements will commenced again. Then things will happen quickly.

Re: Average age of new fo's
Presently, it might be the case for OTS hires but I am certain the pilots on the Jazz PML average age is much higher than that. I think after the PML is exhausted and more hiring is done OTS you will see the average age decrease as the candidate pool dries up.altiplano wrote:I heard once the the average new hire was 35.
Re: Average age of new fo's
A few Jazz guys went over that were in their mid 50's
Let’s Go Brandon
Re: Average age of new fo's
And they can hold EMB CA in 2017 and will probably hold junior B737 CA by 2020.Inverted2 wrote:A few Jazz guys went over that were in their mid 50's
Not a bad gig for the last 8-10 years of your career.
Re: Average age of new fo's
And Jazz, pumps up their salaries for the first four years so they don't have to suffer a pay cut.
Re: Average age of new fo's
Has Jazz and/or Air Canada or even Porter hired guys in their 50's?
Thanks
Thanks

Ya, if you don't mind spending the last 10 years of your career at the bottom of the list working weekends and Holidaysrudder wrote:And they can hold EMB CA in 2017 and will probably hold junior B737 CA by 2020.Inverted2 wrote:A few Jazz guys went over that were in their mid 50's

Re: Average age of new fo's
When I was in my 50's my kids were grown up and on their own. I worked a lot of holidays and weekends because I found I could get better quality flying then. It's not so bad.av8ts wrote:Ya, if you don't mind spending the last 10 years of your career at the bottom of the list working weekends and Holidaysrudder wrote:And they can hold EMB CA in 2017 and will probably hold junior B737 CA by 2020.Inverted2 wrote:A few Jazz guys went over that were in their mid 50's

Re: Average age of new fo's
That is what quite a few of the PML pilots left behind despite 25+ years of service. If you live in the Toronto area and want to fly a light blue jet out of YYZ then Jazz is no longer an option. Considering what GGN and SKY pay, I would say that going to AC with a $125K annual pay guarantee for 4 years (higher if they qualify in left seat) is not a bad option. For those at the front end of the PML wave, 5 years to left seat on the B737 represents less than half the waiting time for upgrade at WJ. EMB CA is going at just over 2 years. Many of the older PML pilots will still retire as B737/CS300 CA.av8ts wrote:
