How to fly for less
Hi,
I'm planning to go study filmmaking in Los Angeles,California. It will be about 2 days a week for 8 months. I plan to fly from Montreal to Los Angeles back and forth every week.
From my calculation it will costs me over 2000$ a month in airfare.
Is there a way to pay less for frequent flyer ? I'm going to fly economy of course.
I'm saving up 500$ a month just for this. In 2 years i'm going to have 12 000$ ready to spend to tavel to LA.
Cinema is my biggest passion and i just have to try to be in the movie and tv buiseness

Your best bet might be to drive to the states and fly to LA if you got extra time. BTV airport has good deals. You’ll save hundreds in Canadian tax money.

Flight Passes might be your best bet. Have a look at the AC public website.

Are you able to live down there for the duration of the course? You'd save money, get networking opportunities, and be able to experience the LA lifestyle.
Re: How to fly for less
Have you compared the cost to if doing the opposite routing? Eg booking LAX - YYZ - LAX? You might be cheaper? I think the US might tax it differently but I’m not sure.

You can drive to Buffalo or Detroit and hop on a flight from there, with a US carrier.

Book flex, not tango. While the flight itself might be more expensive, you get twice the points so you may be able to use those and your status for free trips.
