Worried you may have to fly the MAX? Me too. Bid to the C Series, that fixes all, and you still get a tray table.
Re: A320s
320's will be with us for a while yet... well past 2024 I'd suspect.
As mentioned there are newer ones still with us at Mainline, plus rouge got 5 new 321s just a few years ago, and the trend is upgauging regional routes to the LCC where they have unrestrained fleet growth opportunity.

Re: A320s
The long term fleet plan is usually comprised of a "core" fleet that will stay around, and then a "if times stay good" fleet that will stay around if times stay good. It is also modified from time to time by who is in the upper management of flight ops and corner offices. Having said all that, I suspect that the newer 320's, and most of the 321's are in the "core fleet." In fact, much as they outlasted the EMB fleet, I wouldn't be totally surprised if they outlast the 737 fleet!

Re: A320s
Can't even fill their widebody FO seats, adding the A220 to the fleet next year and expanding the 737 fleet? My oh my where do they expect to find the pilots?yycflyguy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 02, 2019 10:55 amAC is taking delivery of 18 more B737MAX8s in 2019 to double the fleet to 36.CZBBYYZPilot wrote: ↑Wed Dec 26, 2018 8:20 am Air Canada purchases 4 WOW Air A321s.

Re: A320s
AC has no shortage of pilots, the issue with the wide body position is that pilots don't want to bid them so they'll simply go to new hires. With ground schools of 30 to 40 people running every three weeks and hundreds of resumes on file they have no problems filling the positions, the only difference is new hires will be awarded right seat 787 or 777 instead of 320.
Re: A320s
The majority of those applications are coming from the regionals. Mostly AC Express. Once AC hires all the OTS that exist, they will have no choice but to take basically anyone from Express that wants in and has the qualifications. Then what happens to the Express routes? It's not as simple as saying "AC has no issues finding pilots" because I agree with you, it's true. But eventually there will be a tipping point in Canadian aviation where the simple answer of "well AC has no problems" won't be enough.nightbird wrote: ↑Fri Jan 04, 2019 3:17 pm AC has no shortage of pilots, the issue with the wide body position is that pilots don't want to bid them so they'll simply go to new hires. That's when they start taking them from Westjet, Encore, Sunwing, and TransatLightchop wrote: ↑Fri Jan 04, 2019 3:30 pm The majority of those applications are coming from the regionals. Air Canada will have no issues filling these seats. There's no 'oh my god, they're going to have to pay pilots more!' on the horizon at their level, alas.

We shall see. They will find a lot less people applying to Express if they see no one getting hired...
