Aircraft cancellations

Post by mbav8r »

“Air Canada lost over half a billion dollars in the last quarter, and despite lowering cash burn to around $7 million a day, it is expecting a tough winter ahead. As part of its efforts to improve its position, it has deferred some new narrowbody aircraft deliveries. More significantly, it has also canceled orders for 10 Boeing 737 MAX and 12 Airbus A220s entirely.”

Add in thus far unconfirmed rumours of a dedicated 767 cargo fleet.

From the news release:

“Our nimble Cargo team has pivoted to dedicated all-cargo flights during the pandemic and Cargo will become an increasingly important segment of our business going forward.”

Looks like the dedicated 767 cargo subsidiary was not a rumour..... now confirmed.

Good luck on the vote.

So are the current number of positions on the 220 and 737 for the aircraft already Air Canada has (or are getting shortly)? Or do you think they will be reducing positions due to these cancellations?

With the cargo operation being proposed, why would it be a pay cut to the pilots to fly cargo? Just doesn't seem inline with the working conditions if it's going to be overnight type freight hauling.

There is no good reason for it at all other than Calin knows ACPA and a majority of its pilots have no spine.
