Sure, what you didn't explain was why this time would be any different. And you can't.

Not even if you were Calin Rovinescu himself.

Especially if you were Calin Rovinescu.

Great idea.

Mods, could you please move the last two posts to a more relevant thread?

Thank you.

There will be an equipment bid at the end of this month so hiring needs should become clearer after the ratification or failure of the current proposed T/A.

Hiring should have been done months ago but the company was waiting to see if they could get more new hires on the degraded pay scale and onto a D/C pension. Patience. There should be a significant hiring spree soon.

From what I hear on the line, guys are already working overtime so it's no surprise to me if and when the TA is signed the training department will be going full steam!

It's going to be an interesting summer! :D

Yup, busy. Most RP's on the 767 have 6 overseas pairings in June (Yes, that's more work than the proposed LCC).

The Equipment bid shows the ability to hire 56 new pilots. I would expect the usual, only YYZ positions, on the EMJ and RP.

I was just notified for an interview. Interviewing next week. 4000hrs total, PIC Metro

Seems like short notice for an interview no? Is there a reason? Is the pool low, no one good enough for them?

How does someone beat the system exactly?

You don't. As a word of advise for your interview, step down off your high horse.

Thanks for the garbage input LisaS. Guess you forgot your manners, if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything. It is never a good idea to make assumptions on someones personality like that.

Anyone else have some valid input? thanks.

Pilots don't hire pilots anymore. Human Resources does.

Therefore the system cannot be beat because who the hell knows what the system is? Just do your best and be completely yourself. Don't try to give them what you think they want because they don't even know, and if you don't get the job know that it is no reflection on you.

If you do get the job...congratulations and see you on the line.

I always tell people that this is the worse advice that you can get. It is a job interview - an evaluation of you. Therefore, do your homework; know something about the company, the organization, and the senior management. You can bet that they are going to ask you questions like - did you ever fly with a difficult person, describe a situation where you dealt with a flightsafety/maintenance issue/personnel issue. There is a format to the answers that they want to hear - a.)the situation (your story) b.)how you dealt with it and c.)how you could have done it better (ie., what did you learn).

The old days of - "be yourself and tell them a bunch of funny stories" - will not get you the job nowadays.

I didn't say don't prepare, I said be yourself. What sinks most guys is the testing they do and that is entirely HR driven. Nobody knows what they're looking for during the psyche test so don't bother trying to figure it out. Just do it and be yourself.

There is no way to "beat" that system.

The time to be a Pilot was in the 60's & 70's. Successive AC management's and a weak union have killed a once great career as a professional pilot.

If you want a secure career, become a Postal Worker. They have already been offered what every newhire pilot would kill for and have turned it down. Do they not realize all they do is drop little white envelopes into mail slots?

No training or education required :smt102

" The average starting wage for postal workers is $23 an hour. Canada Post has tabled an offer that includes a defined benefit pension plan for both new and existing employees, up to seven weeks vacation and job security. "

Mack..., Perhaps you could gather up Rockie, Duranium, Turbo-beaver, Norweigan Wood, et al. and apply for this secure easy job. Just think, you would finally belong to a real union, and you could work until you keel over in one of those three wheeled vans!

There'd still be some great injustice in the universe though and it would be all the fault of CUPW!!!!
