Re: Air Canada Interviews
You can also get PFOd after your medical if you get tanked by a bad/unprofessional reference. Heard about a pilot's kid who got tanked after the medical for that reason.
Why's it doing that? No, THAT!

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Not necessarily, It took them 2 weeks to get back to me after the interview for a medical while the guy I interviewed on the same day as got called after 1 week. If this web board is an indication of what's going on, no one has been called for a job lately. Like they're stock piling successful applicants, hopefully they start calling soon so everyone can breathe easy and start their new career. Good luck!
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Are the medicals offers and/or PFO's coming via snail mail/e-mail or phone?

Definitely a phone call for the medical and a letter for the PFO.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Has anyone been PFO'ed in the past and then re-applied and been called for interview?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Think the postal strike would have anything to do with late PFO's? I did my viewing in the first week of June. I might of f'd the pooch. How long is the usual time for the "letter" to arrive? Yes, I am impatient....344 questions later proved it
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Hey,
Just for perspective, I interviewed first week of March, PFO'd sometime mid May. Some other friends that interviewed same week as me PFO'd after 3 weeks.

Thanks yycflyguy, glad to see there is still some hope.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
What is the waiting period then? Typical 12 months?yycflyguy wrote:Yes.flyguy2b wrote:Has anyone been PFO'ed in the past and then re-applied and been called for interview?

Re: Air Canada Interviews
did the interview also in March and got PFO'd 4 weeks later
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Normally it is specified in the letter but 6 months is typical.SonicSun wrote:What is the waiting period then? Typical 12 months?yycflyguy wrote:Yes.flyguy2b wrote:Has anyone been PFO'ed in the past and then re-applied and been called for interview?
Keep on 'em. Even if it says wait six months, keep your profile updated, especially if in the interim you upgrade to Captain or transition to a heavier aircraft.... or learn a second language or get your degree or... Figure out what would make your application more marketable and do it. It will score points even if you don't complete it by the time your second interview rolls around.
Good luck and keep at 'er. One PFO doesn't change anything, nor should you take it as a personal slight.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Was this in recient history? As in the past 3 years?yycflyguy wrote:Yes.flyguy2b wrote:Has anyone been PFO'ed in the past and then re-applied and been called for interview?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
There hasn't been significant hiring in the past 2 1/2 - 3 years. Only 7 small classes since September '08. So my reference to previous candidates receiving a PFO letter and getting a call back was from the big hiring spree from Aug 05- Dec 07.
Hiring needs to be done. We continue to retire 10-15 guys a month and have not kept up to the attrition rate. We are still expecting deliveries of the 787 in 2013 and will probably start the training process at the end of next year.
