So it appears two AC pilots have successfully beat mandatory retirement.
George Vilven (67) and Neil Kelly (65) are being ordered back to work at full seniority, after a recent ruling by The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. They stated that Air Canada's contract with ACPA was discriminatory.
Has anybody been following this case at all? Should mandatory retirement at 60 be a thing of the past? I am curious to hear people's thoughts...
There are still 123 AC pilots waiting for a similar action. The ruling does not apply to everyone - The Tribunal is going to be examining each claim on a case by case basis.
(As an interesting side note, I find the timing of this whole thing ironical in light of Air Canada's recent ad campaign boasting their silver haired pilot that all other pilots aspire to be, when behind the scenes they do not seem to actually respect those same senior pilots they purport to support...)
