Air Canada has been fined $50,000 (U.S.) by the U.S. Department of Transportation for violating “deceptive price advertising” rules in online ads.

“When passengers buy an airline ticket, they have a right to know how much they will have to pay,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in a news release Thursday announcing the fine.

I like this quote from another article, shows the efficiency of our governing agencies...........

"Canada passed a law four years ago requiring airlines to advertise the full price of airfares, but Ottawa signalled last month that the legislation may be too complicated to enact."

WTFO

Nothing other than an airline getting it's stupid ass fined for breaking the law and trying to take advantage of it's passengers.

"Best in North America" you say.......thats a nice way of saying "Best of the Worst"

I'm not sure on what you are basing that. I spend a LOT of money on Air Canada every year and they are consistently better than the others in every regard. If you know a better airline please let me know and I'll shift to them but right now its A/C.

This seems like a mistake made by their marketing or advertising company. They should have know the rules and guidelines. I do have to say that Air Canada does have good pricing and they are a great airline. This just seems like a stupid mistake that cost $50,000 and probably someone's job.
