RP vs Emb f/o
Good day everyone,
Here's the deal. I will be commuting from yqt in this next ground school and was hoping someone could give me some advice. As I will not be moving to yyz immediately, which position would provide the best life style while I am commuting? Along with that, how long are you frozen to what you are assigned in gs?
Thanks in advance
SC

RP is better "lifestyle", but for that you pay a severe price. F/O is better if you think the price for RP "lifestyle" is too high. My advice ... go Emb, get a Van and sleep in the parking lot, or "down by the river". How old are you? What is your experience?

I don't understand your statement. What "price" do you pay if you are an RP?vic777 wrote:RP is better "lifestyle", but for that you pay a severe price. You could get "Lost in Saigon". Seriously, if you don't know, you don't pay it. All is well.Lost in Saigon wrote: I don't understand your statement. What "price" do you pay if you are an RP?

I'm confused too.
Is the severe price a salary thing? Cuz if it is, both new hire positions are currently position group and are paid the same.

It depends on your set up in YYZ. RP less days worked and more sitting around YYZ waiting to go flying. EMJ more flying, less days sitting around. If you dont mind hanging around Toronto RP, if you just want to work and go home, probably EMJ. Good Luck.

RP's spend one extra year on flat pay, before going to pay group pay.

Re: RP vs Emb f/o
That's not quite correct. They get paid Position Group pay after the second year like everyone else. Technically they are contributing their 3rd year flat pay to the "pool" but get paid PG pay.tripleseven wrote:RP's spend one extra year on flat pay, before going to pay group pay.

Vic, why don't you just be clear about what you're talking about rather than speak in secrecy like an idiot? What price are you paying?
Whatever happened to being clear and concise when answering a question?

I would need to be making a joke to be trying to kid someone.vic777 wrote:Who are you trying to kid?rooster wrote: Vic, why don't you just be clear about what you're talking about ...
Someone asked a question, you didn't answer it properly. When said person tried to clarify, you were again speaking nonsense. Figure it out.

Hi SC,
Welcome aboard! I'm sure you'll enjoy either position as has already been mentioned. Have you made your pick?
I'm not sure if the second part of your question was answered. You are not frozen, as a member of the Position Group any transferring between the EMJ FO, 767RP, 777RP, and 340RP positions, is done at the companies discretion (that is, if you're try and bid to another position within the PG). The PG bidding restrictions to NOT apply to base changes.
The pay rates are the same for each year of the payscale. To describe the pay formula simply the rates are computed monthly by blending the total hours flown on each of the PG types, by the PG pilots.
