Contract Reality

Post by FADEC »

Todays' ACPA Bulletin lays out the facts pretty clearly.

In one week, the Contract is void.

Two things are important; Scope and Pension. As the Bulletin points out, AC is trying to eliminate Scope completely. Company proposals will effectively gut the Mainline and destroy the Pension.

These two things should get most of the attention; No reason all flying cannot be done by the Mainline; Make it possible, or everything else is moot.

Keep the Pension viable; see above.

One thing to forget is Age 60. AC has no choice here; Age Based Retirement is Illegal and will end by December. There is nothing to negotiate and no effort should be wasted on this.

Curious what you mean by the contract being void in a week. Does that mean that the old contract is void and AC can do what ever they want? An example of this would be to work outside of the scoop protection without an approval from ACPA? Or does it mean anything AC is taking advantage from that TA is now void, such as the Sky Regional issue. Sounds like a slippery slope. Once it is gone it won't come back.

Clever tactic by management. For the pilots, this negotiation has become about retaining what they had and less about actually obtaining a net gain.

As i said before unfortunately retribution will come in one form or another.. and the downward spiral continue....

Now can somebody explain me how it is possible to void a contract once it is due ? I thought the previous condition were suppose to apply until an agreement is reach. Are you sure the company can unilaterally write a new contract? Sound a little unreal to me.
