One last question. What if they are commuters/someone not available who are involuntarily selected?? Are they penalized?

Once you get your monthly schedule, your days off are yours to do what you like. There is an "expectation" that the remaining open flying will be covered by volunteers, and I think that they won't have any problem covering that flying. There always seems to be people willing to fly for the right incentive. So, if you are a commuter, you don't have to worry about someone calling you and telling you that you have just been "voluntold" to come into work.

Where is your source from? Can anyone else confirm calls have went out? I would hope they are still going in order of interview date?

Latest position assignment released. Here is a quick summary of the openings showing "new hire". Keep in mind that the company may not offer all of these at once to the new hire classes.

YUL
1- LCC 319
2- 320
5- EMJ

YYZ
32- LCC 319
8- LCC 767 F
2- 777RP
2- EMJ

YVR
4- 767 RP

Good luck to those who get a call!

Good one, Thanks MRP

Are any of the vacancies left over from the August bid or are these all new?

Someone mentioned the vacancies advertised in a bid are for 6 months advance, Does this "release'' mean there will be courses for 56 newbies over the next 6 months?

How is the training department coping at the moment?

Good day,

Thanks for the input MRP.

I thought the LCC positions were all going to be in YYZ. But from what I can see it looks like there is going to be some LCC pilots in YUL as well...? Confirm...?

Cheers,

T.

The previous vacancies are included in the new total.

The equipment bid is a 'snapshot' of how much flying is projected roughly 6 months down the road. However, there is a bid every 2 months so the exact numbers fluctuate. The crew manning department can also fudge the numbers on one bid or the next to prevent pilots from being forced out of positions which are being reduced, so the 'snapshot' is a little fuzzy at times. The crew manning and hiring departments do talk together and coordinate just how many pilots will be required. It sounds somewhat impersonal, but think of a new pilot position like Just-in-time-inventory, and the longer the company waits to start a ground school the more precisely they can be to matching requirements.

Termerair, yes there were vacant positions in YUL as detailed by MRP.

Fanblade, November GS, looks like I get to keep that next Tim's card.

LCC positions in YUL is a HUGE and pleasant surprise. Hope to see more of these in the future.
Do you know if YUL actually is a planned base for the LCC?

It's also good to see that there are some mainline positions. Now let's see what's gonna be offered at the November GS.

With the new contract, jobs are now spread along the base of all FO and Rp positions. This will mean longer stagnation in junior positions, especially with "60" no gone.

My opinion, the LCC will be the place to be. Socialized scheduling....The guy who choses something else may see reserve for a long time...

From a pilot's perspective, it's one and the same. Your position and company will be determined in initial groundschool by seniority based on what spots are available.

There are some rumors people aren't getting called by interview date and the question was brought up and never answered... Can someone confirm the guys in the pool are still being contacted according to the interview date or has this changed for the next ground schools?
