Booking jumpseat with a bag

Pardon my ignorance but I'm new to the whole jumpseat thing. If I list as jumpseat with westjet can I bring a bag or is it carry-on only?

Its same as zed fare standby travel. You can bring and check a bag. It's just a bit more of a pain if you get bumped a few times and try and catch different flights or a different route and your bag doesn't follow you. Not often but it happens

I checked 2 bags every time for several months while changing provinces. Never had a problem.

As said though, avoid at all costs because if you get bumped or want to try for an earlier or different flight, you are now chained to your bag.
