737s across the pond

Post by thenoflyzone »

How many ETOPS 120 capable 737-700s does WS have for YHZ-GLA and YYT-DUB/LGW?

According to flightradar24, i see that the following aircraft operated some of these routes regularly in the last few days.

C-GYWJ
C-GQWJ
C-GMWJ
C-GWCN

Is a good chunk of the 737-700 fleet ETOPS120 or just a select few aircraft?

Also, since we are on the subject, how many B738s are ETOPS 180 for Hawaii?

Most of the 737 fleet is ETOPS but the ones operating to Europe have a different cockpit configuration (think 8.33khz comm spacing and other things special to Europe).

There are about 8 -700s that are capable of flying the NAT tracks...CPDLC, ADS-B, 8.33kHz VHF are the requirements.

All of the NGs are certified for 180 ETOPS.

Seems like a waste of money no? Only a fraction of the fleet operates under ETOPS120 requirements, much less 180.

Even the eastern Caribbean routes only require a simple extension of 15% on the 60 min diversion time. (ETOPS 75)

ADS-B is not required for NAT airspace. That's ADS-C.

Not all the NGs are etops certified. A bunch of them don't even have the required life rafts.
