Hey guys/gals, I heard the other day a WJ flight getting cleared for an approach, but, it was something like RPS or RDP approach. I can't recall the exact letters. I understand it is a WJ approved approach, but, what does it entail for procedures?

thanks!

You are refering to the RNP approach...which stands for Required Navigational Performance....

Here is a link which can better describe it

If you happen to get your hands on one of these approaches please don't try to fly it.
They are inherently different than a company appoach that gets you down to lower limits like the ILS in YLW.
One reason is that many of these approaches do not fly straight lines from waypoint to waypoint.
One approach begins at SPRAE, then cruises down a valley into YLW. BELOW SURROUNDING TERRAIN, from the FAF to a turn onto final for runway 34 there is roughly a 110 degree turn between two waypoints. THIS IS NOT A SMART TURN. It's a coded lateral path that you can't plug into your GPS and fly.

That among other reasons is why you get yourself into real trouble messing around with one of these even on a nice day.

Later.
