Line Maintenance Manager – Prairie Region
The
Line Maintenance Manager – Prairie will provide consistent leadership and management of people at WestJet’s YEG, YXE and YQR aircraft maintenance facilities. This position will be based in YEG and will work closely with the Director – Line Maintenance in order to ensure efficiencies in manpower, processes, and operations within the Line Maintenance department.
Responsibilities:
Coach, mentor and lead maintenance personnel to ensure individual goals and objectives are achieved
Provide leadership and guidance to ensure operational requirements are consistently met, and Safe On-time Performance objectives are achieved
Ensure progressive and consistent performance management techniques are adhered to within their bases, supporting long term workforce planning, succession and talent management programs
Promote a safe workplace environment by being actively involved with AQD/SMS audits, reported events, and investigative process, ensuring implementation of corrective actions as required
Responsible for results of internal/external technical audits, ensuring corrective actions as required
Create and manage budgets to meet operational demands
Liaise with the Aircraft Maintenance Leads and Inspector Crew Leads to ensure performance initiatives are achieved
Coordinate and manage planned and unplanned maintenance carried out at WestJet maintenance facility.
Liaise with Maintenance Control, Planning, Purchasing and Materials as required.
Advise the Director, Line Maintenance on equipment requirements to support maintenance activities.
Ensure that maintenance personnel are provided with the appropriate tools and technical manuals for the performance of their work.
Ensure that hangars and shops are maintained in a clean condition
Ensure correction of all defects, and completion of planned maintenance tasks that are issued are carried out in a timely/acceptable manner.
Ensure maintenance personnel receive training to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills are maintained
Liaise with respective coordinator(s) to maintain personnel work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all required maintenance;
Ensure all tooling and equipment is maintained in a serviceable condition at all times
Participate in the recruitment and selection process for all new and promotional hires
Commute to external bases to promote leadership team and depending on operational demands – shift work will be required
Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Director, Line Maintenance.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years’ experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in maintenance of Transport Category aircraft – knowledge and experience on narrow-body and/or wide-body preferred.
Minimum 5 years leadership experience including coaching, mentoring and motivating employees and ability to demonstrate
Must have Current Transport Canada AME (M2/E) license.
Knowledge of CARS, Maintenance Regulations and Standards established by Transport Canada
General knowledge of Human Resource practices ie: Ability Management and Performance Management
Strong computer skills using various Maintenance programs and Microsoft Office Applications
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Recognized Diploma from a College/Technical School
