Split winglets

Post by C-GGGQ »

I thought the split winglets were only on the max? However currently sitting on a WJ 737-800 with them installed, next to a second one.

Boeing rolled out an in-service upgrade for the NG's a few years ago. The winglets aren't quite the same as the Max though - the Max ones are more symmetrical whereas the NG ones are closer to an old winglet with a baby one tacked on to the bottom.

Thought that might have been Boeing's "fix" just paint 737-800 on the side and swap out the safety cards

There would be no swapping out the safety cards, they are the same card....

Scimitar winglets have been around for a long time, over 5 years at WS. They are the same blended winglet with an addition to the top and the lower strake added. The MAX is completely different single piece.
