Mainline hates them because they are there to undercut the mainline pilots.

That being said, you will be paid better than the regionals and be getting jet time. If you need a job, it's a good job. If you have choices, it might not be your top choice.

tl;dr: Not a bad choice, but there are (apparently) better choices.
