Union thing

Post by master switch »

Remember People's Express. Very West Jet like until the employees got older and wanted job secuity and better benefits/pensions.

Could this happen at WJ?

While anything can happen, as this did for SouthWest, it isn't all that likely.
  • Alberta culturally isn't much on unions in the skilled professions.
  • Employee management communications are frequent and direct.
  • Equity participation is not that common in aviation, and has been a very useful business management tool in many non-aviation organizations.

Southwest is the most highly unionized airline in the US and it's pilot's are the highest paid 737 pilot's in N. America. Being unionized is not always the problem. Being stupid like AC' unions is !!!!!!

Stupid people cause problems unionized or not!!

Unions suck!!! :P They had there time and place, but now they are just protecting people who want to get overtime to work there 10 hours a month, and bitch about it. If you are any good a company will pay you well to keep you.

Union killed C3. No concessions to help keep the airline alive ended up being its demise.

A recent survey of CEO's and management types on wages: objective is to at least hold wages where they are or preferably reduce them.

Some unions have definitely lost perspective. Some employers, however, will abuse employees as much as they can get away with.

An ideal world would have you paid your worth and treated with respect. Unfortunately those situations are few and far between.

I feel that there is no need for a uninized workplace as long as the employer is treating everyone well. However if the situation arises where there is unfair treatment galore then but all means band together. I do not agree with the extent that AC is unionized because it is actually to the point where it is a severe hiderance to the company. If they are not careful they will negotiate themselves out of work.
Just my thoughts
