WJ at CYQU today

Post by ehbuddy »

Great job today guys and gals at CYQU today.

Experience and quality training led the way to a safe landing.

I have never seen a 737 land that fast before. It was quite an eye-opener.

Don't know anything about this other than what's written above, but sounds similar to a loft scenario from a year ago (flap problem on approach to YQU)!

Didn't see the 2nd landing...but I was number 2 behind them when they went around the first time...heard the conversation with FSS as they held over the YQU VOR and declared the emergency. We were on a quick turn and by the time we got back they had already landed. Parked at the terminal with the flaps in the down position....they crew mentioned something about the main left gear being a hot-spot.

Great job by the crew and I admire their professionalism to bring the aircraft back to rwy. safely.

A Westjet Boeing 737-800, registration C-GWSR performing flight WS-150 from Calgary,AB to Grande Prairie,AB (Canada) with 64 people on board, was on approach to Grande Prairie, when the crew selected flaps 10, but noticed, that the leading edge flap transit light remained illuminated. The crew aborted the approach and cancelled IFR. After some troubleshooting the crew declared emergency and performed an abnormal flaps 15 landing without further incident with emergency services on standby.

I flew that airplane today. 55 hours on it. I think it was a leading edge transit light, no big deal.

Just wondering if anyone knows why it was an 800 coming into GP, I thought it was only 6 and 700's coming in here. Does the occasional 800 fly in here?
