Looking for some input into current status for those living in Southern Ontario...

Have the opportunity to move for next to nothing and am attempting to determine best compromise on where we hang our hats for QOL.
-From Vancouver Island but unwilling to move back
-YYC and area is an option
-Never lived in Southern Ontario but dollar seems to go a long way as far as property is concerned
