Premium Economy Status

Post by YVRtoYYZ »

From http://westjet2.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=696

CALGARY, Aug. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced it will introduce premium economy seating across its entire fleet. The reconfiguration will introduce four rows of extra legroom seating with 36 inches of pitch and convenience features such as priority boarding as well as complimentary on-board amenities. The reconfiguration will begin in August and will be completed in December 2012.

What is the status of the project and re-arranging of cabins? When will these seats be made available for purchase and any more word on the addition cost for passengers?

Aren't we still waiting for some sort of approval from Transport?

I'm more worried about the 32" pitch the rest of us mere mortals will have to endure.

If you fly on WestJet already you won't notice a difference. I'm 6'2" and while I don't find 32" overly comfortable it's tolerable and a hell of a lot better than the 29" seat pitch on Canjet/Sunwing.

AFAIK there are three tails (1 600, 1 700, 1 800) at the hangar in YYC waiting for TC approval.

Any truth to this?

From http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/westjet- ... omy-6.html

600 and 700 are online flying with the new configuration. For some reason the 800 is not yet.

And regarding pricing, from http://business.financialpost.com/2012/ ... r-sources/

Tier 1: 20% higher than base fare. Y+ seats, free bags, free food and drinks, priority boarding, no change fees.

Tier 2: Slightly more than existing fare, one free bag, other a-la-carte options.

Tier 3: Lower than existing fares, barebones.
