I respect women for many reasons. Flying isn't one of them.

edit: The above was posted in haste as I was going out the door and but it provoked interesting responses so I'll let it stand.. I have four daughters, two of which fly for a living. Keep throwing the crap. I desrve it!

You obviously have not flown with many women pilots.

Gender has sweet fu.k all to do with flying ability.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

I think the history of female aviators is quite deep and impressive.

Maybe we should give phil the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant that because gender plays no role in flying skill why should he respect a woman for flying any more than a man?

Well gentlemen my Mom was a wartime Ferry Pilot. She flew for the WASP's and logged bags of hours in B-17's, B-24's, P-39's, P-51's, etc, etc. I have access to the log books to proove it and when I don't they reside in a Museum to those gals that exists in Washington State. I logged some of those hours with her because she was pregnant with me until they found out and grounded her. :D

In our house growing-up, there were four pilots.......me, my brother, my father and my mother and WE ALL knew who the best cook and the best pilot was in our home........the lady cooking over there. She also taught me and my brother how to fly.

Combat? My mother tried for that too, but was turned down and only allowed to fly aircraft into Dorval from the States or to Alaska. Ya see, even back then women didn't know how to fly or fight. Chew on that for a while gents because she was but one of hundreds of females who did the same during WW2.

   Just came back to this one and I suppose my wording didnt accurately reflect my thoughts. Flying an airplane is just a learned eye/hand coordination skill. I fly with many women but expect no more or less of them than any man because they fly. Nor do I respect them any more because they fly.

The real story isn't women flying airplanes, it is the oppression that women sufferred through even in recent history. I have more respect for those that fought front line for equal rights than for those that flew airplanes. Sorry if that offends you.
