Best STEAK HOUSE
Okay, all you carnivores, what's your favorite steak joint? And what cut do you like best, and how do you like it done??

Ruths Chris is definately a good choice
My favourite is Wildfire but I think that is a Southern Ontario only chain...

Most steak houses are good, but I consider a great steak house one with an awesome view.
Cities close to the beach in the summer, and university areas of towns offer the best in that department.

IMHO if you want a really good steak, you've
got to choose the right piece of meat, marinate
and flavour it, and cook it yourself.
Propane BBQ is ok, but charcoal is better.
T-bone is my personal favorite cut.

Mortons of Chicago, hands down.
Never been all that impressed with Ruths Chris.
Baseball cut sirloin at the Keg is a great steak as well.
Rare please.
I don't know how I forgot but any high end steak house in Brazil is sooo spectacular!

For those in North West Ontario, go to the Prospector if ever through T Bay. They have their own cattle farm down Oliver Rd. and everything there is amazing. You can also do the surf 'n turf there with lobster or crab. I also like the Keg, but this other joint is waaaay better.
But I agree with Hedley as well... get a nice steak from a good butcher shop. Get it cut a little thicker and BBQ it yourself. I'm also a T-Bone buy, but a nice ribeye is good too.

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

So where did your sense of taste go on vacation? Might as well crack a hungry-man, dude.
I honestly can't believe it when people say the food at the Keg is any good. Maybe it varies from location, but I have never had a good meal there.
Re: Best STEAK HOUSE
i agree on the prospector. for as long as i can remember, meals there were awesome, and the beef was always the best part! now if i could only convince them to open a chain up here! Gotta do the grilling myself here....

I agree with the Prospector in YQT as well... Villa D'aldeia Grill in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil is pretty darn good too.

Another vote for the Prime Rib at Prospector in YQT!

I *heart* the Kobe steak house in vancouver...
As for the keg.. they ALL vary. I've been to about 3 up until a couple weeks ago and they've all SUCKED. Then I was with the girlfriend up in whistler and popped in and it was downright effing delicious, the staff was amazing and everything worked out. I felt like yelling out CO-STAN-ZA!!
I also remember eatin a deeeeelish steak relatively inexpensively in Seattle about two years ago.. but I can't remember the name.

In the ottawa region the best bar none is Stirling:
http://www.sterlingrestaurant.com/english/nousjoindre/
They are just opposite the prime ministers residence on the Quebec side of the river and about 20 meters from the water. When the Canada day fireworks are on, you can eat on the balcony, watch the fireworks. You can also arrive by boat or seaplane and park at one of the warfs near by if that turns your crank. Its a blast just sitting after a huge steak and watching the boats go by.
They have a wood stove to cook all the steak and its insanely good.
Highly recommended.

In the Vancouver area, try Char's on the Fraser Hwy in Aldergrove. Dan cooks awesome steaks, Doug serves up some excellent drinks (Snakebite (1/2 Stella, 1/2 Strongbow)) and some great staff. Miss it more than anything else since leaving Langley. Rare steak w/ blue cheese..... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!! And try the spinach salad. Off to drool some more now!
