Hotels in Edmonton
Would someone mind recommending a hotel near the West Edmonton Mall and how to get the best rate?
I'm also looking for a list of hotels in that area to avoid.
We need two rooms. We aren't traveling with children. The other couple we are traveling with do not work in the industry so they do not qualify for any industry related discounts.
I am aware of the Fantasyland, WEM and the Mayfield.
Is the Wingate by Wyndham an OK hotel?
Thanks in advance

You might be able to get a good discount at the Sutton (downtown) and then just take a bus from there to west edmonton mall. Its been a long time since Ive had a layover there, but I know some crew have taken the bus to the mall.

Thanks Topper but I called the Sutton Place and they will only offer a discount for the room that my wife and I will be in. They won't offer a discount for the room that our non-airline friends need.

Why not share a room with two beds?

The windgate is nice, but expensive and no discounts that I could manage
Stay away, very far away from the Travelodge West (bedbugs and swimmers itch) and the Howard Johnson (worse than travelodge, plus really stinky and no ammenities, like elevators or lights in the parking lot)
The Ramada Inn by the city center airport is okay, a little further from the mall, but only 99 bucks per night, even without the discount. Or if you get the "executive suite" it's 119 and you get 2 free breakfasts.

Stay away from the Ramada on Calgary Trail in South. Ramada Edmonton South I believe. Rooms were old, smelly, small, uncomfortable. And the pool was 3 part water, 1 part urine and 2 parts bleach to over power the urine. That was 2 years ago so I have no idea if they revamped the joint. Best bet for your money, stay away, STAY FAR AWAY.

Re: Hotels in Edmonton
I thought the Chateau Louis and the Chateau Nova we pretty decent places. I think the Nova was a little more money than the Louis, in the $100 range. They are both a couple blocks away from city centre airport.

Re: Hotels in Edmonton
I just booked the Wingate by Wyndham for an airline employee rate of $96. My friends got it for $102 but they can't cancel.
Thanks for all of the help folks.
