Yes, the pilots hate it. It was a move to undercut the pilots while demanding a part of the ULC market in Canada.

WestJet has a safety first culture. Air Georgian doesn't. The two companies are fundamentally different in their approaches to operation.

I was referring to whether or not management has reassured their front line employees that they'll still be getting a paycheck, once their CPA with AC is done. The end of January will be here soon.

I haven't heard yet. There's probably something in the works, with a backup plan being killing off the scheduled flying and going charter only.

Nah, Georgian is never surprising. They won't get a contract. They will struggle to stay afloat. If they don't cease operations altogether, they will definitely not be anywhere near what they are today, let alone two years ago.

True story - a couple years ago Georgian was very close to renaming their service to Link. It was right around the time their 1900s were de-branded from the AC livery. Everything was ready to go until within a week of their planned surprise launch WestJet beat them to the name by announcing their own Link service. Maybe GGN saved their abandoned promotional material and can save money by reusing it if they join the WJ Link network.

Management would never tell their workers their closing up shop in a few months or a month. All the workers would leave.

This isn’t just for Georgian. What does your company offer that others need? Does anyone need old rj’s? How about old 1900’s? Do they need your maintenance? Your OC? Your attached SMS?

If it’s a new type why wouldn’t another company just do it themselves? Are sims and ground schools booked? Maintenance off doing courses? Dispatch being trained on a new type? Schedules being planned for next month? Relocation for staff?

If I owned a company and needed to keep all my staff and had work for them after their current contract was up. The new contract would be posted everywhere. Everything would be planned and booked 6 months in advance at a minimum.

If it’s all “rumors” it’s actually all BS.

Which is exactly what their management is telling their employees, that a deal is in the works...these things take time...max is still grounded....we have a great workforce...blah blah blah...and then all of a sudden, no deal, thank your for your hard work and commitment, wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Yup. Old Massey has had enough. He is closing shop and calling it a day. GGN had a lucrative opportunity with the RJ/AC programme but they caused that contract to cease because of internal ineptness and failure to maitain safety. The corroded old birds are going to the desert . Shareholders are pulling out now. Adios GGN .

Why is anyone surprised? A friend who is a captain there told me labour relations manager just pink slipped everyone under #35 seniority there and the rest are coming February 1st according to management. It's time to get out NOW!!

I recently flew with GGN's former grievance chairman, at Jazz now. Right from the source, they have NO deal with anyone. They are done. Considering their track record with AC, since the RJ operation started, why would anyone, especially WJ want to be associated with them. Let's hope that all the front line employees find employment. As for their management, nothing needs to be said, that hasn't been said before.

And the fact that jazz outright refused to take over two fins from ggn due to their "decrepit state" according to one of my F/O's... Doesn't look good for them at all

The worst kept secret is that RJ’s coming. I’ve heard announcement in February. However they’re not going to Encore, Swoop, or WESTJET. Consensus is they’ll be operate by a company that already has RJ experience on many levels and is looking for new work. Not hard to guess who that is. I imagine at a fraction of the cost it would take to start up an RJ program at any of the companies in the WJ group.
I guess the bigger question or issue is what will happen with this PTA if/when Onex sells Encore and all it’s feeder flying?
They don’t have to look far to see how that can be a cheaper method of hub and spoke flying.
But... what about this guy's "heard" announcement?
