Air Transat hiring and Groundschool 2015

Post by DHDriver »

Hi girls and guys,

I have overheard that AT would be doing some hiring early This year. I am guessing this is for the 737 Toronto based new routes.
Any info on that? Groundschool date?
Thanks.
Cheers.

Interviews on January 14th and 15th.

100% for YYZ as many commuters would love to get YUL or YVR.

Spots could be pure B737, pure Airbus or a dual qualification.

Cheers

Much appreciated. Any idea about GS please?
That must be a long commute for those live in yvr.

Thanks again

As stated in another thread, 12 new people joining the ranks in January. No idea if more GS are planned this winter. It would be great!

You know, this reminds me of something a flight school owner in Montreal said at a French Language Police (Ministere de la Culture et Communication) market research focus group. They asked him why he insisted that all his instructors be able to speak English even though half his students were learning in French. Answer: "Pour moi, quelqu'un qui habite ici et n'est pas capable de parler anglais ... c'est un signe de manque d'intelligence." They didn't think much of that answer.

Think about what it says about someone's confidence in their mental abilities that they want to work for a French company but don't think they're smart enough to learn French. It's not rocket science people.

An American had been working in China for 10 years. One day he met up with a freshly arrived friend of his and took him to his favorite watering hole, where he was a regular patron. The newcomer asked for a Jack Daniels. The barman gave him a blank stare. "I'd_like_a_Jack__Da__niels!" the visitor repeated louder, stressing every syllable.. Still a blank stare. The regular patron, then told his buddy:
"See how stupid those Chinamen are. I've been coming here for ten years and this barman still does does not speak a word of English...."

I'd be interested in applying for the job, but alas, my French language ability is quite limited, and I'm afraid I may not be fully fluent by the application deadline.

Are exceptions ever made for otherwise qualified applicants, with perhaps a proviso to obtain a level of French proficiency by a set time? I'd have no problem with that. My lack of language ability in French is due to circumstance, not aversion to improving it!

Although... it seems effort would be better spent learning Mandarin, these days...

Couple of questions for those in the know.
Can you bid your schedule at Transat? I.E. Bid long pairings to get blocks of days off
Would it be possible to commute with AT ?
About how many days off per month would a F.O. receive ?

Thanks guys.

We use ADOPT PBS at Air Transat, so you can bid whatever you like. Getting what you bid depends on your seniority and systems constraints.

Yes, many do. Not the easiest but feasible...

11 GDOs on a regular schedule, 12 if on reserve block.

Thanks guys.
