“We are fighting against a culture of bitterness toward pilots from within the company,” said Capt. Roy. “Although we proved that we were willing to make personal and financial sacrifices to help the company during its dark financial times, the last proposal management presented us demonstrated a profound lack of recognition for all the sacrifices the pilot group has made toward the success of our airline. Management’s proposals continue to lack commitment regarding meeting industry standards for pilots, the same way that the other unionized groups within Air Transat enjoy parity within their respective industries.”

“We want to negotiate,” Capt. Roy continued. “We’re 100 percent ready to do everything the law allows to bring parity for our roles within the industry. If the company stands against this goal, we will proceed to a strike vote, and the Master Executive Council is confident that the members are strongly behind us.”
Well said.
Unfortunately even the most profitable companies share the same bitterness. Aviation today.

Sunwing pilots are also negotiating a new contract. Hopefully both MEC's are talking to each other constructively. Good luck to our friends at Air Transat!

Independent of ALPA or UNIFOR policies or politics, the SW and AT pilot leadership should be talking to each other. They occupy the same space in the Canadian industry and are facing the same challenges. What they should work to prevent is turning pilot collective bargaining in to a source of competitive leverage for their respective employers. Companies compete - not pilots.

Good luck to both pilot groups in renewing their collective agreements.

Your thinking makes a lot of sense, unfortunately that's what companies have been doing for years. Operation costs etc will always be advocated to justify this decision, even if the productivity is badly managed.
You will notice that companies doing this have no other idea and show very reduced resources to find good development strategy to boost net profit which, concerning AT, has been decreasing Q after Q.
Bad magement is bad management.
AT's revenue will be interesting to read next week, you can be sure fear mongering will be used as leverage in negociations. Revenues are already announced to be decreasing and the company is bracing for a tough winter.

Good luck !
