Sky Regional New Pay Scale

Post by loopa »

I heard there's a new pay scale at Sky Regional.

The summary of the rumour was that it's moved to a guaranteed 75 hour credit system at 40 some odd bucks / hr. That equates 36k/yr on a min guarantee level plus your per diems. Does this sound about right?

You are correct there were recently some changes and improvements.

They have gone to straight hourly, instead of base+credit, increased the min guarantee to 75 hrs, as well as a few work rule improvements.

The new 1st year pay is $47.20/hr for FOs. So that works out to just under $43k/year at min guarantee (or just over $48k/year at 85/hrs). Not sure where you're getting $36k per year?

All the incentives that were in place before are still in place. Year 1 captain $78.33/hr. Also, overtime threshold lowered from 90 to 85 hrs.

Is there a credit system in place at Sky Regional?

What are the per diems?

What are the benefits?

What is the pension?

What is vacation entitlement?

There are multiple threads already covering this information.

For per diems, the only thing that has changed since the other threads is that it is now a $3/hr flat per diem, day and overnight.

The Profit Share, RRSP, OTP Incentive program and health benefits etc are all as described in previous threads.

Thanks - I was multiplying 40 x 75 x 12 months. I stand corrected that it's 47.20/hr and not 40.

What is the progression of pay over the years?

Are the pilots' flying 75 hours a month? I heard 80 was a realistic average. Someone said the F/O's sit just over 50k/yr now and Captain's 80k/yr. I imagine attrition will stop being so high with the new PML and the fact that this is the highest paying AC Express gig for an entry level pilot forecasting their salary for the next 7 or so years. Because what would it be at Jazz and Georgian after 7 years? Keep in mind most people are stating that the upgrade times at Sky Regional are around 2 years so you'd be making captain pay in comparison to making 2nd or 3rd level F/O pay at Jazz. But then again, if attrition slows down, so will the upgrades I imagine.

Interesting wave of info either way, thanks PROC.

It's nice to see a company adjusting to the market. Despite starting low to manage their startup costs, they've continually responded to their crews and tried to improve their lifestyle.

One it staves off the union rah rah rah, and two it starts to minimize the attrition, lowering training costs and minimizing overtime.

Once AC starts hiring in 2017, I think the revolving door will start spinning again for the tiers. I'm sure they are strategizing...

But now they aren't providing a cheaper service to AC. Maybe GGN or EVAS should take over the EMB flying

GGN is expensive to AC just based on the fact they can't seem to keep their pilots for longer than a year (some exceptions there). EVAS is the same thing.

The amount of time and energy billed to AC for training is probably the biggest cost associated with them. Plus the associated scheduling for line indoc (loss of efficiency).

GGN is a company built with 90s mentality; that being there is no movement in the industry and that they can operate how they please to undercut their competitors. Pilots are a dime a dozen, blah blah. That their employees owe them something and should be grateful.

This is very transparent if you've ever interacted with their management (again some exceptions).

Looking at Sky as an outsider, it looks quite different from the other tiers, IMO.

So what's the EMB like to fly, and how is it to transition from turboprop world ? How is the training at SKV?

It must be up to par, because the guys I know going there off of the props say it's an easy transition.

The systems are a piece of cake to manage. A lot of automation.

The guys I've talked to at AC while commuting really enjoy the 190.

Profiles are faster than the props obviously, but not by much if you are coming off a KA or 1900.

Not sure where PCC is getting their information on that. There is no indication as yet that the Qs are leaving, in fact hiring for the Q has been going strong the last few months.

That line has now been removed from PCC so it would seem it was incorrect.
