Changing career

Hi,

I just decided, after many talks with my family and girlfriend, to reroute my carrer from logistics to airline pilot. This has always been the job I wanted to do since I was 12 years old (Thanks to mom for buying FS2002 with the new computer back in the days!!).

I've been diagnosed colorblind at a very young age. I've been told MANY times that I couldn't do military, police or pilot. Recently, I was doing some random readings on internet and went to see the requirements to do the class 1 TC medical and found out there are alternative test available. So I took an apointment and I passed the Farnsworth D-15 color test plus the regular medical examination. This means I finally holds a Class 1 medical certification without any restrictions, which I thought it was impossible 1 month ago.

I'm currently 26 years old, hold a BBA (major is logistics) and have some spare money to start paying my training. I went to visit some school and will make a choice in the upcoming days after the last visit. I'm looking forward to not have any debt related to flight school throught the whole process.

My plan for the next two weeks is to start the PPL and see if I really like to fly aircrafts. I will then commit for CPL, ME, Night, etc... But something tells me I won't regret it!! :)

I'm looking for someone that currently works at Air Canada (or any other major canadian airlines) that is willing to mentor me. What I mean is someone that will be able to answer my general questions about the job and the position I'm looking to have in the future. One thight I learned throught my work experience is being surrounded by people with experience that has walked the step you're walking is a major asset and I want to replicate this in my new career. I'm very looking forward to make new connections and potentially new friends in this industry.

Thanks very much and pleasure to chat with you guys in the future!

The profile picture is an interesting choice, given this thread is right below the "Being gay in the flight deck" one.
