Cadets taking over the world

#1 Post by infiniteregulus » Thu Dec 08, 2016 5:59 pm

So what's with all these new cadet programs?? Jazz, Georgian, Encore....... I understand the "sourcing" aspect, but is experience truly worthless nowadays?? Seems quite the kick in the nuts for guys with time getting passed over for high school students :/

They don't want your hard earned experience! They will attempt to "risk manage" and "mitigate" any issues with throwing a 250 hr newbie in the right seat of a Q400 or RJ. The regionals are picking the low hanging fruit for pilots to fill their ranks, so they don't have to increase wages...in the end its all about $$$.

Wait until TCCA comes out with the ICAO Second in Command licence for newbies who will have nothing but flight simulator experience! No..ZERO...nadda... flight experience. and of course there are the strange little people who live entirely in the digital world.

It is coming to a cockpit near you.

That already exists in Canada, look it up in the back of your license booklet and wherever it is in the CARs.

The Multi-crew Pilot Licence does exist, however I don't think there is the framework in place to actually obtain that license.

It's requirements aren't listed in Standard 421; that lists the requirements for every other flight crew permit, license or rating. The Multi-crew Pilot Licence Training Program Guide frequently references CAR 407, but I can't seem to find it :?

The most significant thing about the MCPL is that it's airline-specific. Each airline designs its own on type programme, and the licence isn't transferable until the licensee reaches ATPL level. If you can't take your licence, experience and knowledge to another employer you are basically a slave.
