Commuting from Sunshine Coast/Bowen Island/ Squamish to YVR
Any professional pilots commute to YVR from either Squamish, Bowen Island or the Sunshine Coast? Looking for some insight on pros/cons & if it works for you/would recommend it?

I commute from the Island, if that helps? Lots of time on the ferry and transit. Have a place to stay in Vancity for morning starts if I need to.
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

I commute from Squamish, mostly to downtown, but occasionally to YVR south terminal. I'm out the front door 1hr before report time for downtown and 1.5hrs before for YVR. The downtown to YVR portion can be anywhere from 10-30 mins depending on traffic. Going home from YVR in the evenings will be 1.5 to 2.5 hrs depending on what fuckery has struck the bridges.
Needless to say, I despise days out of YVR, and would not take a job that required that commute daily.
Pros: Podcasts
Cons: People driving on bridges

There are a couple of Jazz folk that commute from Powell River. I think there are also a few in the courtenay comox area. Its doable..

There’s tons who commute from the Island.
I used to fly a guy regularly from Sechelt to YVR on the Beaver. Seemed to work great for him, but of course you do need more time for the ferry option just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

I'm an AME who commutes from Sechelt. Five on, five off 12 hour shifts so I stay in town at a crash pad for my five on. Highly recommended area to live in. Biggest drawback is the ferry as I can't make reservations with any confidence since I just can't walk away from work if the sh_ts hitting the fan, and weekend and summer ferry traffic can be brutal. You learn to pick your travel spots

If you aren't walking on and leaving a car in Horseshoe bay, multi-sailing waits are typical in the summer for Langdale. It can be a crapshoot getting off the coast with your car too. Public transportation to downtown takes forever... once you're downtown though, the train is slick...
Squamish is a lot busier, almost a bedroom community commuting to the city now but the 99 is pretty fast now at least.
I think the Mayor on Bowen is a retired AC guy?
