Trudeau appears to be less than receptive to the idea...

CR has historically been quite effective in lobbying the government of the day to support AC in whatever way it deemed necessary

During the COVID crisis, not so much. It must be quite the eye opener.

Trudeau is a disgrace. He only comes out of his house at 11:00 like a coo coo clock to say nothing for the past 3 months except when he went to a black lives matter protest. Thankfully not in blackface again.

He doesn’t care about airlines or the economy.

I get the frustration... I’m not saying I necessarily agree with the the argument, “ lives first, economy second” but it’s an interesting thinking point. What do you guys think?

From my standpoint, why can’t we move ahead with opening up Aviation in a staged approach like the rest of the economy? If cases spike in a big way we can dial things back... or if things go well we can continue to move forward? Why the all-or nothing approach? Why can’t we find a middle ground on this?

I do worry for my career and that of others ( I also care about other people’s lives too) Careers have a major impact on people’s physical and mental health too. It’s not just pilots ... it’s aviation in general...

I do know a few paramedics and suicides are up in a significant way. What about that?

I’m more than a little disturbed with the job shaming.. ( eg. You’re frustrated about the COVID rules therefore you must be a sociopath who does not care about others” - generally this is coming from people who ironically have jobs themselves. Or, why don’t you want to give up your career so others can live? Uhhhhhh?

I don't think it matters if you change the rules or not. People aren't going to fly. AC and WS have massively cut domestic flights and the planes are still empty even between provinces that are reopening.

I wasn't aware there were special aviation rules?

It's all governed by the "essential travel only" and certain provincial border closures. As far as I know, nothing is specifically targetting aviation, so I'm not entirely sure how you would "open up" aviation?

But I could be wrong...

Trudeau is a paranoid child with zero self awareness and proved by his BLM and Kokanee-grope actions and he didn't take the proper steps in the early stages to protect Canadians, but now he has swung the pendulum in the total opposite direction leaving Canadians in the dust economically as the world reopens. His LEEFF program is a failure as the conditions are unsavoury for any business, (the reason nobody is using it) he's blown millions of taxpayers dollars to gain a seat on the security council (failed again), he attempted to pass a bill that would give him unlimited authority, which is funny considering he admires communist countries like China and Cuba. Need we say more?

I don't really care which party is in power at this point .. I just want someone to "LEAD" the country forward.

Ahramin, I beg to differ about planes being "empty" .. I've been flying throughout the whole downturn and loads have really picked up in the last month.. went from being around 5-20 folks to now around 80-100 in just a month.. on average.. maybe if they relax the rules we can fill these planes even more! People wanna fly again... but the media and government scare them into not.

Bingo.
Subjective news titles. Remember when this all started, every news article was “should I go for a run outside during COVID?” Or “is it safe to go for a drive during COVID?” (Wtf?) then you read the article and there’s really nothing of substance.
If you shove enough of something down peoples throats, they will believe it.

Now the narrative is “China wave 2”.....umm ok so getting 40 new cases a day versus 18 is a new wave? China has less than 400 people actually infected, last time I checked the numbers, that’s still less than Alberta.

And before someone says “dOnT bElIeVe AnYtHiNg FrOm ChInA”, well you can only go off the data that’s available but I’d rather look at the data than the media.

And I’ll add that the only country ACTUALLY going through a second wave is Iran. But everyone and their dog has a massive hard-on for China, so that’s the focus right? ;)

I don’t think he should be allowed to be a drama teacher either. Would you really want that doofus teaching your children?

I don't know what the issue is. I booked a trip to another province for next month, and nobody asked if it was essential or anything. We can travel and nobody is stopping it. How is this the federal government's fault again?

Many people have actually become accustomed to just chilling now, and personally, I don’t know many people who are prioritizing travel right now with the money they have. I love to travel, domestic and abroad, but what’s really turning me off is all the hassles and rules still in place. Furthermore, it looks the waves of infections are far from over in many spots around the world, and I don’t want to travel around with such ongoing unpredictability. If I’m going to spend the money, I would rather just wait until things are more back to normal and the experience isn’t so restricted.

Flying commercially hasn't been fun for many many years, but it just depends on how badly you want to get away to your destination! It would be extremely helpful and a signal that the customer is important, if the airlines let us bid on business class more easily (I know we can do it, but I am not always given the option) - I would be flying somewhere every other month if it didn't cost so much- to me there is no comparison. They would see a net gain in both money coming in, and the goodwill. The seats often go empty of course, and I am sure it doesn't look good to those in bum class, to walk past empty seats on our way to the stall in the back.

This is a way to let the flying public know that the airlines WANT them as customers. Until Covid, they got used to jamming us into the back with no regard for comfort at all, which is just not on. It is not hard; just treat people the way you would like to be treated, with no expectation, or thanks in return, except for their MONEY that they spent.

I think you might find the problem in your own post. Passengers today expect all the amenities and comforts, but they want to pay nothing for it. You’d gladly fly business class if you could afford it ... duh! So would the rest of the planet! But because people expect to fly from Toronto - Vancouver for the price of a bus ticket, airlines have to make up for that cost by jamming as many people as possible into the plane. You get what you pay for! The profit margins on airlines are tight .. 1-2% on average per flight segment. The airlines have spent years fine tuning their operation to operate as lean as possible to pad the bank accounts for times like this .. so they can come out the other side with something intact.

This has been said many times but seems to just fall on deaf ears.

I expect nothing. I want the chance to BID on business class. Bidding is not free. If I don't get it, and the seat goes empty, too bad. I am trying to look at the airlines as a business person would, instead of this twisted view that somehow asking for something besides being able to walk at the end of a flight, is being greedy.
