Thinking about a position at KFA.

Just wondering if Flightcraft has any interline/pass deals with other airlines.

Thanks

Are they hiring?

They get "jumpseat" with AC.

Flightcraft has only a jumpseat agreement with Air Canada, NO jumpseat agreement with Westjet or JetsGo. Reduced fares at PASCO.

No movement lately. You can expect sitting in the backseat as an SO for 4 to 5 years.

I work for KFA as a pilot. We have to pay for WJ flights, no jumpseats.

Unfortunately you're right, KFA doesn't have an agreement.
I just got a limited listing that includes:

*Baxter Aviation
*Bearskin
*CMA
*First Air
*Harbour Air
*Hawk Air
*Pacific Coastal
*Peace Air
*Perimeter

All the above have interline agreements with WJ. There's more for sure but I didn't ask about the heavy players.

Hey Blastor, I heard that KFA lets you live where you want and allows you to commute to your base. Is this true and if so do they cover your travel costs and give you a place to stay when you get there.
Thanks

I don't work for KF, but I have been commuting for close to 20 years. Haven't heard of anybody (company wise) picking up travel and/or accomodation tab for commuting. (Unless you are working under some type of contract that it is agreed upon)

DW,

yes KFA allows commuting, however if you decide to commute it is at your cost. Depending on your base and seniority it can be easy or hell to commute. We bid on our schedule based on seniority, so if you are junior, your schedule will reflect that. I can tell you that commuting is not cheap (accomodation, 2nd car, insurance .... ). It is your responsibility to make it in time to your base and if you get bumped of a jumpseat you might have to buy a last-minute ticket to make it, which can be expensive.

If you think about a SO job at KFA, there is no hiring planned for the near future (as far as I know).
With the oil prices at a record high and significant changes happening within KFA at the moment it wouldn't be very wise to consider a job as an Second Officer. B727's burn a lot of jet fuel and with crude oil 35% higher then last year and at a record high of US$44/barrel are not very economical anymore.
New Generation aircraft don't need Second Officer's.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the info. It is a big help. I realize that fuel costs have been going through the roof however KFA has a huge 727 fleet. It just doesn't make sense to me for them to get rid of them all right away. It would have to take a few years. Besides what would they replace them with. The New 37's are a lot more efficient but they are expensive. There is a lot of 57's around but their price tag is still high. I hope that they are going to hold on to them for a few more years. ( at least until I get there). Any comments from anyone?

If you love the 727 so much I recommend you have a look at ACE and Cargojet. They are expanding. At least there you have a realistic chance to get a right seat in a relative short period, at KFA you don't have that option anymore.
