Porter Airlines

Post by NghtFrt »

Just got a call from Porter Airlines for an interview next week. Can anyone give me a heads up on the interview and hiring process? Pay? Work schedule? Or any inside info on the company? Thanks

As others have said, all your questions can be answered by searching the forum.

For everyone else interested, it's been a big couple of weeks for us...

That is great news, I hope that some day all airlines allow agreements such as this.

Does that mean that WJ employees can travel on Porter?
If so what might the costs be?

wasn't it Cliff Bedloff that said "props scare the crap out of people" or was it "props are for boats..." he is a sailing man after all. Screw the props those Porter F/A's are smokin in that uniform!

So what are Porters plans out east? I see them here in YHZ quite abit, they could probably make some cash at connecting east coast towns like YQM-YYT or YSJ-YHZ, etc...

You could add a little white stripe to the tail... tell the WestJet FA's where the treadmill is, and put those great uni's system wide and then start the codeshare from all of this news.

I used to work Ramp for Porter out of YTZ.

Had a great time, the People that work there are awesome too. And yes, the F/A's are smokin' hot... their uniforms are designer by Pink Tartan and about $2,500 a piece if I remember correctly.

Their Q400's are mint and cleaned from stem to stern every evening that they overnight in YTZ.

As for plans of expansion for routes... Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Newark, Chicago, Sudbury, Sault St. Marie, etc. Something like 15 destinations they have planned. I can't remember them all now. But they're staying within a certain radius of action to maintain profitability from the Q400. Not really intending to use them to their full legs.

A lot of their top leadership came from Bombardier as well. Their Chief Pilot was the test pilot for the Q400 at Bombardier too.

I would love to work there again. But ideally in a flying or operational position... my back says ix nay on the Ramp now.

I saw an add in the Globe and Mail yesterday that Porter was looking to hire for all positions. Good luck anyway.

Had a nice write up in October issue of Air Transport World called Big Fish, Small Pond. Unfortunately it is only in print not on the net.

Porter's success is another prime example of Air Canada missing the boat. And why they continue to allow Jazz to run those old, beat up Dash's and CRJ's is beyond me. Air Canada is slowing watching their market share shrink away, thanks to the likes of WestJet and Porter. See what happens when you have executives that only care about their own bottom line.

I wouldn't say allowing Jazz to fly those planes but rather instructing them to do so. The CPA dictates which planes on which routes. I agree that AC has let niche markets slip that don't fit into the network (ie: YHM and YTZ). Too bad, I guess it just leaves room for the competition.
