JAL adds to regional jet fleet

Friday, January 7, 2005 - Page B8

Montreal -- Japan Airlines International Co. Ltd. has signed a contract to buy two Bombardier CRJ200 50-seat regional jets on behalf of its domestic airline subsidiary, J-AIR, Bombardier Inc. said yesterday.

The companies did not reveal the purchase price but the typical market value of that aircraft is about $23-million (U.S.). The order brings to eight the number of CRJ200s purchased by JAL for J-AIR since 2000.

J-AIR provides domestic services in southwestern Japan from its base at Komaki. A total of 45 Bombardier regional aircraft, both CRJ jets and Q-Series turboprops, have now been ordered by eight operators in Japan. BBD.SV.B (TSX) fell 1 cent (Canadian) to $2.33. CP
