Executives and employees of Southwest Airlines Co. celebrated the last flight of the low-cost carrier's final 737-200 series aircraft Monday morning.

The 737-200 model had served Southwest since the carrier was founded 33 years ago.

Chairman Herb Kelleher and chief executive Gary Kelly dressed in special pajamas for the early-morning ceremony, during which the airline gave away some of the plane's original seats.

When the plane began service in 1981, Southwest served 22 cities and flew 9.5 million passengers.

Today it serves 59 cities and flies 65 million people.
