SkyService Airline
Does anybody know how things are going at SkyService for the Airline side?
Re: SkyService Airline
I heard an awful rumour from a manager there...
He said they are going down to 1 airplane for the summer, and that airplane will actually be based in EU... so no flying/crews in canada this summer.
I sure hope he's wrong

Pilot Career Centre says they have pilots on furlough. Is that true or is that out of date information?

Skyservice president warns of layoffs
BRENT JANG
00:00 EST Wednesday, January 21, 2009
Skyservice Airlines Inc., the country's second-largest charter carrier, is cautioning workers about looming layoffs amid the recession. "We know the economic and business realities facing all companies in all industries," Skyservice president Rob Giguère said in a memo to employees. "Skyservice is not immune to those realities, but Skyservice does have an enviable foundation built on solid customer contracts." Still, Mr. Giguère warned that job cuts could affect pilots and cabin crew, noting the privately owned company has learned that one its customers won't be chartering planes this summer. "The summer fleet realities will also mean layoffs in other parts of our organization," he said.

Re: SkyService Airline
For insiders at SSV this is not news.
The word was out about 2-3 months ago. Some pilots got their layoff notice, I heard as much as 50, not sure about the number, but that came from a senior SSV dude.

That's a lot of notice. Gives guys a chance to plan something. Is it just a summer layoff? Have they said anything about a call back period?
