I was saddened to receive this message today:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am very sad to report that our friend and colleague, First Officer Karl G. Kriese passed away yesterday afternoon. He had been diagnosed with cancer only a few weeks ago.

He leaves behind a loving wife and a four-year old daughter.

A service to honour and remember First Officer Karl Kriese will be held in Toronto on Friday,

September 30, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, 141 St. George Street (at the St. George subway exit).

Parking is available in the underground lot —OISE Prince Arthur Dr., one block north of Bloor off St. George Street.

At the family’s request, please no flowers; donation cards to the Canadian Cancer society will be available at the service.

Another service will be held in Edmonton at a later date.

Everyone is welcome to attend and visit with Karl's family and friends.

Those of us who knew Karl will remember an extremely intelligent, worldly, and likeable individual. He had more than once been helpful to me personally, and he will be missed.
