As per No more BS...
The winds were out of the north, as Scuba Steve said she departed off RWY 36 and the accident happened south of downtown, this was in-flight icing not ground icing.

Was she already talking to the tower at that point -- prior to encountering the emergency? Should've been talking to departure.

Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.

Really? I was impressed with ATC's performance. I'm not going to speculate on what they could have done better because I wasn't there. Besides the Walsten guy's are professionals. They wouldn't accept the clearance if they thought it would be hazardous.

Icing is nasty, we all know that. BUT one thing some of us do not realize is that, it can be O.K. condition where you are and only 10 miles away someone else could be in moderate to severe conditions and in big trouble.
My thoughts go out to the family and friends.
....sad day.

N2....I dont think the jury has had much time to weigh the evidence. If you cant help pointing fingers, try wearing mitts?
