Any experience with CBP at Binghamton, NY?
Hey guys, I'm preparing to fly from CYTZ to KMSV (Sullivan County, NY) again, and wanted to explore alternatives to landing and clearing customs at KBUF. Does anybody have any experience with the CBP service at KBGM (Binghamton)?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Excellent service from a very nice agent. Believe she drove over from Elmira. However this was almost 10 years ago so this may have changed. Better than BUF, that's for sure. What about IAG (Niagara Falls International)?

Oh, I missed Niagara... should it be listed as a port of entry for New York on the CBP site? http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/ports/ny/
EDIT: Ok, now I see it listed under Service Ports for Buffalo. Thanks.

Very good. Make sure you have your 178 form.

Hawkerflyer, the 178 form is long out of date.
Electronic filing via eApis AND phoning ahead is the only way to cross the border now.

Some more info that I have learned:
KBUF: CBP only requires, by law, that you call and notify them at least 1 hour prior to arrival. You must file eAPIS before calling them, so that they can look up your manifest in the system. There is no fee from CBP, however KBUF does have a landing fee (I believe it was $10).
KBGM: CBP at KBGM requires more advance notice, since they do not have an office at the airport and the officer must drive over to meet you. They need 2 hours advance notice, minimum, for weekday arrivals, but for weekend arrivals you need to call by 1500 the previous Friday (this is what the officer told me even though it says 1600 on some sites). However, if you arrive on a weekend, you must pay an overtime fee, in addition to the CBP user fee. I was quoted nearly $200 for a single-engine light plane! Plus the user fee of $25. So, that is somewhat cost prohibitive. More info, here: http://flybgm.com/Business/Customs
On the positive side, the officer did seem very accommodating and willing to provide information.
