TC sending a credit agency after me?

There has been a lot of talk about this but I haven't seen anyone verify whether there is a legal issue here or not. Guido indicated on one of the other threads that he was following up on the Access to Information and Privacy issue. It should be interesting to note that the Financial Administration Act provides for the use of collection agencies to recoup debts:

A quick search through the other government departments via Google confirms that each employ collection agencies:

Doesn't it just give you a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that your regulator will try and ruin your credit rating not to mention paying some collection agency to hound you to distraction to collect something your taxes used to pay for.

You gotta love these pricks who think nothing of extorting more money out of some poor struggling flight instructor than the instructor may make for a full day working at the airport.

IF you don't pay your yearly fee and you have a collection agency calling you - I don't think that the agency can harm your credit rating as someone mentioned on this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong but I really doubt it. Your credit rating is hurt if you don't pay your monthly credit card minimums etc.

Appearently; this fee is a filing fee after your medical examiner sends in the results of your lates medical. That being said: How come they have guys running around asking that you produce a current medical with your license. They should already have that info with a name and a license #. RE: I paid my $55 so that you should know. I know the theory may sound dumb; but I' trying to figure out a way to charge them a fee for you to access info for something they already know. Huh?

Just reluctantly paid my $55 to the agency as I was not interested in having my credit affected, I was informed by the individual on the other side of the phone that they were not a credit reporting agency.

They must have given up on me. Haven't paid my 55$ for a couple of years. No letters or calls for at least a year. Didn't show up on my credit file either. Methinks it's just a scare tactic, or an empty threat? TC collectors are scum. Collection agencies are the very lowest form of humanity. You are in no way obligated to reply to, or talk to these maggots. Find out where they live, and kill their dogs!

I pay almost $500.00 per year to keep my ATPL current, $110.00 of which TC extorts from me now that I am back in Canada and get a tax rebate.

Is there any proof of this? I hate to pay into this scam, but 55 bucks isnt worth a red flag. Someone post a link or something.
