A little over the top but it gets the point across admirably.

The writer's a little over the top all right with the vernacular. Is there any chance that sunglasses of any type (polarized or not) could help? Also, isn't it about time that the ubiquitous stinking cameras and surveillance devices used in airport terminals could actually be used for something worthwhile - LIKE CATCHING THESE POS SCUMBAGS STANDING ON THEIR CARS AT NIGHT CLOSE TO AN AIRPORT WITH A LASER POINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Excellent article on lasers from America's finest newsou
The security you see in airport terminals is for being seen and nothing else. Don't expect them to contribute any way in any sense to aviation security.
There has been some success in catching these misguided individuals as if you send out a police helicopter after reporting a laser strike they tend to light it up as well. As for protection, the US Army was concerned with its helicopter pilots getting hit with lasers 20 years ago and came up with a helmet visor that would go dark fast enough to protect your eyesight (I think a spinoff of that was welding masks) but until an actual dangerous situation results from a laser strike the business case for spending money on a solution really isn't strong enough.

The same gun as the a10 warthog would make me feel better: "laser? Get some! Brrrrrruutt"

I disagree. The writer is not over the top.
Punishment should be that we get to shine that laser into the eye's of the perpetrator and see if they still think it's fun.

I'm going to knock this up a notch with my spice weasle. Bam!
