Woops!

That happened here at work once, but there were airplanes in the hangar. And one of the Dash 8's had the sunroof open...

This is why I never show up at the north end without my speedo.

I hope it was necessary because I can't imagine it's cheap to blow that system.

I didn't see a fire. Heard a few whistles blowing and a horn that sounded like the hangar doors closing, then....

Underneath all that foam is a very confused smoker whose cigarette just went out.

Touche Canadian Cancer Society, touche.

News is saying it was a system malfunction.

Looks like premature activation. Perfectly normal, can happen to anyone. Transat has nothing to be embarrassed about.

Was trying to find a news story about this (strange that nothing came up), and found one from Eglin AFB when a welder set off the fire suppression system. There were planes in the hangar.

I think you mean premature ejaculation, not activation.

On a side note, I thought the fire fighting foam was corrosive to aluminum airplanes.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

It's happened a couple of times at US military bases over the years: http://theaviationist.com/2012/05/18/st ... oam-party/

Obviously, as the YYZ photos show the A310 in there has completely melted so it cannot be seen above the foam!
