Pretty good read. The URL feature isn't working at the moment though.

Re: Interesting Article on Bombardier and the CSeries
Theres a bit at the end about a replacement for the Aurora...is this even being talked about? Those in the know (Spokes, Rockie, Aux Bat, Big Pistons...) is the C100 a fit for the job?
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Well I heard they where looking at the P-8 Poseidon (Boeing 737) C-Series might be a nice made in Canada solution and a way the Liberals can funnel more cash to friends and family in Quebec.

Well, assuming the product is of similar quality, I'd rather see my tax money stay within the country than go to strangers without....but doubtless some politician somewhere will get a new deck out of the deal, and has already signed a 'free trade' agreement saying that we cant be biased towards Canadian companies

No clue. But the P-8 itself seems to me to be a misuse. Jets, even turbofans are not as efficient as turboprops at low altitude which translates into time on station. For a tactical jet that's a factor but not as much as raw power, speed and maneuverability. In an ASW platform it's a major consideration.
Just my uninformed opinion though.
Note: Oldtimers used to tell me the old Argus used to take off out of Greenwood for Portugal - and could hold Greenwood as the alternate. Now that's endurance...

Q400 or ATR 72 would probably do the trick nicely.
Re: Interesting Article on Bombardier and the CSeries
Are you joking? Only 2 engines over the frigid waters of northern Canada? Unacceptable. We need new Aurora's. That way we save on the training since the pilots and crews are already trained on Aurora's and, it's a type we already know for maintenance and munitions loads.fish4life wrote:Q400 or ATR 72 would probably do the trick nicely.
Seriously. You can't have 2 engines over Canada, the country is huge and cold.
I may have been exposed to the F-35 thread one (or more) times too many. I will now try to remove my tongue from my cheek.
I'm going to knock this up a notch with my spice weasle. Bam!
