Cargojet...?

Post by Airbusfan » Fri Jan 29, 2016 10:46 am

Any plans on fleet renewal, or just getting more 757 & 767's...??

Seems the -200's are always going mechanical...

Fuel's cheap right now. Utilization is low enough it doesn't justify the capital cost for new metal yet. Just keep tickin' along.

I believe the 8 767-300s & 4 757-200s they've acquired over the past two years is the fleet renewal.

The latest rumour is that they will be getting 747's next year for flying to China. Good times for everyone at Cargojet!

I think they missed the boat on that one.

I wouldn't be surprised if that plan is on perma hold until the current state of the Chinese economy starts to improve.

Doesn't matter what the Chinese economy is doing overall, Cargojet is not sourcing the cargo it hauls. They get contracts to haul X number of pounds per flight to wherever and its up to CJ to bid those hauls at a profit.

I doubt they would get a 747 depending on load it would make more sense to utilize the 767 with a stop half way depending on the where and from.

Who knows stranger things could happen

There's a reason FedEx uses 777s instead of 47s.

I can see if they were buying used rather than new though, 747s make more sense as heavy operators are dumping them in favour of the above.

Now none of that matters if the Chinese economy doesn't recover.

Anyone know if CargoJet is doing any of that lucrative emergency manufacturing supply hauling (specifically thinking car parts)?
