Aircraft change of ownership requirement.

Post by cap41 »

Can someone provide some advice, just purchased a single engine A/C. We want to put it inside a corporation. We have the corporate number. Do we need to forward the 20 pages of the articles of incorporation to facilitate the ownership transfer?

Thx

The Certificate of Registration from the Provincial or Federal authority that granted the incorporation should suffice.

Are you "selling" it into the corporation for cash or transferring it for take back of shares? If #2 don't forget to complete your section 85 election form from CRA (I would include this with the transfer as part of evidence of sale.)

Don't forget to re-register the ELT as well.

I was recently told that you need both the Certificate of Incorporation and the Articles of Incorporation.

This doesn't seem to mention anything about Cert of Incorporation, Articles of Incorporation, etc, but I was told by a TC inspector that all of that stuff was required....

As a general rule, Don't ask a TC inspector anything about what TC needs and don't believe whatever they say unless it's to do with their precise role in this precise instance. In this case speak only to the relevant administration officer who deals with aircraft registration at your regional office.

Read the back of the Interim C of R and it gives you a checklist of everything you need Including if you're an entity... really, really, really simple.

OK you have mentioned how really really simple it is. we get it!

But, i asked for peoples experiences, and knowledge on the matter. I have found regardless of what a government agency spells out on their documents. They tend to vary on interpretation. making it not REALLY REALLY simple.

Our registration was held up because they apparently needed a picture of the data plate with serial number. We called because it was coming near the end of the interim C of R. The lady we spoke to was very helpful, and even processed it late on a Friday for us to receive in time.
