Class 4 flight instructor interview
Hello, I have an upcoming interview for an entry level class 4 flight instructor position. It is my first interview on any hints and suggestions?
What are some possible questions they can ask me?
Thank you

Re: Class 4 flight instructor interview
what causes an airplane to climb?
Re: Class 4 flight instructor interview
Be straight forward and look the interviewers in the eye. Give clear, concise answers, (avoid verbal diarrhea). Be prepared to teach a quick ground briefing.

so if it's not climbing, there's no lift?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

So many stupid comments.
If you have nothing useful to say shut up.

Tell that to the interviewer; that will get you the job for sure.

Remember you're the one asking a public forum.marakii wrote:So many stupid comments.

How'd you get your class 4 and not have an idea what they might be looking for or asking? talk to other instructors? your own class 1?
Re: Class 4 flight instructor interview
Poor you- not getting the exact advice you are demanding of your peers on a free, public forum.
The initial question is fine, but your subsequent reaction and attitude sucks. Remember, this is a tiny, tiny industry, and as such, this forum is nowhere near as anonymous as you might think.
Yours is not the time to be burning bridges.
Anyhow, usually expect some casual conversation to see if you're personable, and likely a PGI. They expect class 4 level, nothing unrealistic. Standard questions might include knowledge of the company. Dress for an interview.
Good luck.

Yup.
Frankly for a job as a greenhorn CPL, especially a instructor, first and foremost is going to be how well you relate and if you're someone they would
A. Want to work with everyday
B. Someone the customers would find worth $50hr
I'd wager in a job like this you're going to be more heavily weighed on yourself as a person, compared to your log and technical question answering ability.
Based on your comment, I hope your parents will let you continue to live with them, you might have a tuff road breaking into aviation.

Marakii,
Though no one here has set a trap for you, you've fallen into it anyway. Letting alone the skills and experience that you could bring the the role of Class 4 instructor, will be your patience, and human interaction skills. This would be a great time to reconsider how those could be perceived.
In the replies you have received thus far, serious or otherwise, you have the benefit of a collective many decades, and probably more than 10,000 hours flying experience. What a great resource available to you! No one expects you to demean yourself for it, but neither are the old timers here much interested in their own casual form of jest being crisply thrown back at them.
As to your original inquiry, yes, look 'em in the eye, conduct yourself with pride and professionalism, and don't try to blow anything past your interviewer. The best thing to say when you truly don't know, is that you don't know!
In the mean time, avoid being remembered here as the new guy who told the old guys to shut up - that's memorable, in a not good way.....
